Classifying Vocabulary to Improve Reading Comprehension

Recursos en línea: Resumen: This innovation focused on analyzing the effects of classifying vocabulary into parts of speech using the technological tool of Google Drive sheets. This six-week action research study was applied to 33 students in a private high school institution in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Surveys, learning logs, pre and post- tests were instruments used to get quantitative and quantitative data for the analysis. Through the quantitative method, this study reported an improvement of reading comprehension skills with vocabulary enrichment of 33% and an effect size of 0.79 noticing a positive effect on the application on this innovation. According to students’ answers in the learning logs, they had a positive opinion towards this implementation. Thus, in view of Ecuadorian students need to enhance their reading comprehension skill and due to the very little information on classifying parts of speech to do it; this innovation should be implemented. Experts and educators should enable learners to accomplish better outcomes in evaluations and performance, improving their English skills
